Hello. I’ve been a member of this form since 2016 but I’ve never posted. I’ve recently begun really enjoying my pipes again. This is a little bit in preparation for my retirement in a few months. Pipe tobacco is MUCH cheaper than decent cigars! I’m an Air Force veteran and currently an IT Analyst with the VA, at least for a few more months.

I smoke mostly cobs but have a couple of nice Savinellis, a Peterson, and a Danish Stanwell. I smoke mostly English, VaPers, and Burley blends. I also really like Prince Albert. I haven’t found many Aeros that I like.

I look forward to learning even more about pipes and tobacco but hope to restrain myself! I have a bad habit of going overboard and I’ve seen that most of you aren’t a lot of help in that regard!

Yup, good luck with that!
Howdy & welcome to the forum, Joe, from Korea.
A preemptive congratulations for your up-coming retirement.

Welcome from Central Texas. I attended Mizzou in the late1960s, and I'm from the Arrow Rock area originally.

Welcome aboard from central North Carolina. I retired twelve years ago from National Institutes of Health, an institute down here, and am a Navy veteran, enlisted from 1968 to 1972. My wife and I met in Columbia, Missouri, in journalism school, in 1966, and went our separate ways, she to Long Island and NYC, and me to the Navy and NIH. After I was a widower for six years, we got back in touch and were married 12 years ago.

For several years in 1974 to 1978, I worked for what was then the Veterans Administration as an on-campus benefits counselor. Interesting gig, but NIH had a career track more related to my degrees.

Lots of good pipe and tobacco info here. By the way, I highly recommend retirement, except that instead of the long afternoons deciding whether to read a book or take a long walk, I find the pace of life has accelerated. Such is life.

Pipe tobacco is a confoundingly affordable luxury. As in it's amazing how much luxury you get per cent spent on it.
