Hello & welcome from Hereford.
Nice introduction Tove, whereabouts in England are you? Sounds as if you’re off to a good start already, just need to get on the St. Bruno mate. Then, if you’re anything like me, it’ll be ‘Ernie No More’. Lol

Welcome from Florida. You will fit right in with your love of collecting. W have what is PAD Pipe Acquisition Disorder, TAD Tobacco Acquisition Disorder, LAG Lighter Acquisition Disorder.

My suggestion is to ask lots of questions and have a budget in mind. Also what type of pipes, smooth, sand blasted or rusticated. You should set a limit for how much each pipe should cost in the beginning. I have a limit of 200-300 for most estate pipes. My limit goes to around 400 for new. I only buy American artisan pipes as I am a homer and want to give my business to my guys from the US. Plus I found that many American carvers are some of the best in the world. Tobacco is next if interested.

We have the worlds most authority on the is Sabble Brush aka Jess. J.Guss is a Dunhill maven and then we have George Dibos the best retorer on the planet pplus he knows everything about pipes. There are loads of other guys who are knowledgeable. My knowledge runs from American artisans to smoking flake and plug tobacco.

Nut when it comes to some of these guys I am just lowly piker who is ignorant compared to these guys and I have been smoking pipe for over 20 years. I still learn stuff which makes this place the best pipe site on the web.

Brighton via SE London. I've got some friends from Hereford - sounds like a nice place. I've just finished a tin of St. Bruno. I did enjoy it, but found it a bit more acrid than Erinmore, although it does seem to smoke a little drier. Condor's the next port of call.

Thanks! Where abouts in Sussex? I live in Brighton now but I'm originally from South East London.
Born in Rustington next to Littlehampton. Went to school in Midhurst near[ish] Chichester, and 6th form college in Portslade. Lived in Moulsecomb for a while, not far from the University.

Small world! I'm right on the border of Brighton and Hove.

Hi there,

I'm Tove, a new member of the forum, from England.

My interests in pipes goes back to the days of watching my grandpa smoke as a young child.
Welcome aboard but I have to give you a heads up. If you write a sentence that I find misunderstanding it to be funny I will misunderstand it, on purpose. Now I assume you have a time machine and instead of doing the usual stuff you go back and get smoking advice from your Grandpa when he was five or six.
