Welcome from SE Florida, Julius,!

I got into collecting pipes nearly 50 years for the wonderful artwork (specifically meerschaum), but did very little smoking before this year and only discovered this forum this past February.

I still have my first pipe (a Turkish meerschaum) and I’m actually smoking it as I write this.

Some of the most wonderful meerschaum carvings have come from your part of the world and you might want to watch estate sales etc, because Turkey no longer exports raw meerschaum and the Austrian/European pieces are getting rare as hen’s teeth! :puffy:

Thank you all again for the warm welcome! I've enjoyed my first days abord!
Gatorlope, thanks for the advice! I've always wanted a meerschaum pipe (Strambach is a maker that caught my attention), but have not yet pulled the trigger. Now as I know, that they're becoming rare, I'll have at least one eye on the estate market!

Julius, I’ve seen some nice looking Strambach pipes, but I haven’t been that interested in them because I like the ones that are carved from mined block meerschaum.
