So I was browsing Pipesandcigars and noticed that Hearth & Home Magnum Opus is now called simply Magnum. I was just curious, why the name change? And does anyone here know why?

Between the Heart of Alabama and Hot Springs NC
they could be nice about it and still have it work.
We actually have no idea what happened, per se. It could very well be that this was all the result of being nice.
It is a weird word to have copyrighted. Magnum Opus refers to the greatest piece of art in an artist's lifetime. Everyone should be free to say that this or that product is their Magnum Opus.
This probably should have been argued in court.

What else is necessary to fill an hour with some mindless entertainment?

Every episode of the original and reboot could have had the same description: “Magnum and his friends get into some trouble, but it all works out in the end”

opus cigars being a bitch about it. Seriously that's it.
Geez... seriously? Are they owned by Gene Simmons now?

That's my thinking. It's a somewhat common phrase.

Here is what AI is saying

The "Magnum Opus" pipe tobacco, a blend by Hearth & Home, was renamed to simply "Magnum" due to the high cost of the Oriental tobacco used in the original blend, which led to the creation of the Hearth & Home Marquee Series.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Original Name: The tobacco blend was initially known as "Magnum Opus".
  • Cost of Orientals: The blend's high cost was attributed to the expensive Oriental tobaccos used in its formulation.
  • Name Change: One of the members of the Hearth & Home group told Russ that this blend was his "Magnum" tobacco and the name stuck.
  • Creation of Marquee Series: To address the rising costs of the Oriental tobacco, Hearth & Home created the Hearth & Home Marquee Series, which included the "Magnum" blend.
  • Current Name: The blend is now marketed as "Magnum" rather than "Magnum Opus".
