Russ hasn't blended in years and years.

I didn't know he retired, there was a lot of discussion about where he might go after STG's bullshit. Really sad that all his life's work is gonna disappear like that. I'm don't think they're keeping any of his blends.

It's not that Russ was retired as that, after the Deeming Rules started to complicate things, Russ moved into other parts of the business. I really haven't kept tabs in several years.

Oh okay. Yeah the FDA has really been making things complicated, there was a year where there were basically no new cigars introduced because of the Deeming Rules

I really enjoyed several of the H&H blends in the old days before Scotty Bendett sold his business to CI; I think that was almost a dozen years ago. My favorites were Larry's Blend and Anniversary Kake. I never felt either was quite as good after the business was acquired.

I also recently opened up a tin of Black House and thought it was tremendous. My only tin. Any thoughts on a GLP replacement for Black House?

Surely The Darklord, with all his Lat blends, has to make something close to Blackhouse (BS759)?

I find that GLP Maltese Falcon is a decent replacement. Luckily I scored a few extra tins of Black House before it disappeared.

IIRC, the GL Pease equivalent for 759 is Blackpoint.

I'd say the best thing you can do is to keep a hawk's eye out for the next month and change. HH tins are all out of stock on P&C currently, but if you have no qualms about rolling the dice with them, they could restock a final cache at a moment's notice.

Alternately, with the final Sutliff wave apparently in transit (or close to it), you could keep an eye out for Sutliff's 759 match, which is the bulk identical twin brother of Black House. Although I would imagine the time window for snagging anything in this final wave would be pretty tight, it still seems the more likely of the two strategies to yield fruit, IMHO. I myself will be looking for the OM match and Plumcake, two blends I will greatly miss.

Even before this last death knell, I came back from latest hiatus to find only a skeleton crew of H&H blends available anyway. Back in my day... lol back in 2015 or so there were dozens of blends.
