Just wondering if it's confirmed gone under the Sutliff situation, or is it still up in the air? I just realized I didn't have the backup of Black House I thought I did. Will be a sad day indeed when I smoke the last of it. This was one of my first favorite blends, and weirdly enough, my long time girlfriend absolutely loves the room note over anything else.

I'd say the best thing you can do is to keep a hawk's eye out for the next month and change. HH tins are all out of stock on P&C currently, but if you have no qualms about rolling the dice with them, they could restock a final cache at a moment's notice.

Alternately, with the final Sutliff wave apparently in transit (or close to it), you could keep an eye out for Sutliff's 759 match, which is the bulk identical twin brother of Black House. Although I would imagine the time window for snagging anything in this final wave would be pretty tight, it still seems the more likely of the two strategies to yield fruit, IMHO. I myself will be looking for the OM match and Plumcake, two blends I will greatly miss.

Best of luck!

Sutliff 759 is a good enough blend, I have some of that. But it's not an absolute match. I enjoy it, but not as much as BH. I would possibly stock up on some if it comes around.

I preferred White Knight over Black House. Both good blends, but I like White Knight more. I really like Magnum Opus too. Thankfully I have several tins of each in my cellar.

I haven't been able to buy from Pipes and Cigars or Smoking Pipes for a couple years now, so I haven't been paying attention but is Russ Ouellette still blending tobacco's for P&C? I know he's the one that came up with Black House and White Knight and other match blends. It's unfortunate that this line of tobacco's will be going away as well.

Until STG took over production of Black House a few years ago it was the same blend. The Original Match was White Knight.
Might be a mental thing with my tastes. I was thinking Blackhouse was inspired by Balkan Sobrani 957, but Sutliff 759 was the closer match. Or was Balkan Blue the closer match? Still have plenty of that one and I about equally like that to Black House.

Black House won the judges' vote but Balkan Blue got the popular vote.

I managed to score a tin of Black House and Fusilier's Ration. Not sure when I'll crack them open but I'm very grateful I'll be able to experience Hearth & Home, they'd been on my to try list for some time.
You probably won't be disappointed. Well you might be disappointed when you can't get anymore.

That's a risk I'm willing to take. A lot of people don't bother getting stuff about to be discontinued if they never tried it before, but for me that's all the more reason to get it before it's too late. I started off with cigars so I'm used to buying singles (I've never bought a box and have no plans to) so I'm used to only smoking something once, so even if I only get one tin of a pipe tobacco that's about the same number of smokes as a box of cigars would get you for a fraction of the price.

Russ hasn't blended in years and years.
