Just ran into this issue last week when attempting to purchase a leather tobacco pouch from Gusti Leder. I reached out to customer support, thinking I was doing something wrong, and received this note in response.

"Due to the recent changes we regret to inform you that we are currently halting all shipments to the USA until further notice. That is why it will not be possible to currently place an order on our website.

We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding during this challenging time."

Request a professional carrier.
The cessation of shipping relates to tariffs, and professional carriers with nevertheless be required to charge those tariffs. In addition to whatever arbitrary brokerage fees they like.

I think it's better to wait patiently until a new normal settled in and international trade eventually resumes. I have to guess it won't be more than a handful of months.

If the purchase wants their item, my suggestion stands…..request a professional carrier.

I have no interest in the discussion around tariffs which I assume ultimately got the other thread closed.

Simply, if you want an item from overseas, request a carrier, pay the money and be on your merry way.

This isn’t difficult.

Do you mean like FedEx or DHL?
Yes. Different vendors have different policies and fees they’ve put in place but they can all do it.

Iv used the Danish Pipe Shop as an example before so I’ll just reference that again. Their own site says you can still order from them, it’s just the shipper is going to be a company like UPS and not PostNord.

Professional shipper or no, you should check the duty rate on the country from which the stuff will be shipped. You may also need to look for the specific rate for the types of things you are buying. That could be tricky. I doubt, for instance, briar pipes are a big enough chunk of imports to get their own line on a duty schedule.

You also run the risk that the duty rate you expect to pay is wrong because you draw the “specific duty” card after your roll of the dice. That could range from $80 to $200 per item.

I would not risk an overseas purchase right now. I got some final orders in to GQ Tobacco and Al Pascia before the bell. Neither retailer has bargains if what you buy gets assessed the specific duty.

I hope nothing I have said is political. It also isn’t tax advice, seeing as I’m not licensed for that.
