Heads up on Hittel_used_pipes...stiffed me on appx $300

I did not jump in to say rx2man is "the bad guy" or even "a bad guy". I chimed in because the content and tone of this thread sound a lot like a guilty verdict being handed down to Mr. Hittel without anything like a fair trial. Maybe Mr. Hittel is the guilty party, but I would prefer to see judgment meted out only after both accounts have been presented.

@ buroak...please elaborate on "the other side of the story" or what I did for Hittel to not uphold his end of the deal. He complained AFTER it was all said and done that it took too long to get his pipe repaired. It took too long as the pipes recd. required may more work than an average "restoration". Meaning a lot of char to deal with on the rims and in the bowl. He did not complain about how long it took to get them back until it came time to pay up. I also kept in constant contact with him and never ignored email messages.
After 4 weeks of being ignored and no replies to his ebay or personal emails I bid on 6 of his pipes on ebay. At that point he decided to reply as he had to because of me winning the auctions. Should I have bid on pipes I had no intention of buying?......maybe not but I did not know what else to do to get a response from him. Its also interesting that it was all he needed to feel justified in telling me to kick rocks. Almost like he was waiting to find a reason to not pay up.
The purpose of my post was to give people a heads up and to make sure they get their part of the agreement 1st, I am not here to argue or justify my actions. The post is simply to make sure people are cautious when dealing with Hittel.

Well I can tell you all this. rx2man is the most honest man I know and goes way out of his way to please an satisfy the people he is dealing with. This really pisses me off, there isn't anything he wouldn't do to make his customer or friend "which I am proud to be" And any body that thinks differently can go to H--L. Actually, and much to your credit, rx2man, you pretty much laid out the "other" side as I have heard it from Mr. Hittel. His account of your actions on his listings has you more aggressive in your efforts to leave him with unpaid items, but otherwise the "other side" stories mesh. I am not sure that more breaches of contract are the answer to the problem, but I can empathize with your despair at the lack of resolution.

Scrooge, I never said I could not be persuaded to rx2man's point of view, and certainly never said I was against him. I do not have a dog in this fight.

Kind of hard to have a trial if the accused doesn't reply. I suggest we just hold the trial in his absence. Oh! We are aren't we! A debt incurred is a debt owed. Pretty simple to me. Hittle is not worthy of trust. I believe his kind were referred to as "four-flushers" not too many years ago.

His actions on trying to mitigate the matter may seem extreme, but are completely justified. When you put your soul into making or bringing a pipe back to life and it goes uncompensated . . . you feel like your lively hood as a person is being taken advantage of.

@ buroak, when I finally heard from Hittel after 4 weeks of no communication from him things went rapidly downhill from there. I think things are resolved.....I am SOL. LOL.

Rx2man, I would have done the same as you did in trying to contact Hittel. I'm sorry that you got bit on this. Do contact the county Bar Association and file a complaint.

Rx2man...sorry this happened.I and another were very outspoken about this scumbag right from the very beginning. I called his bullshit and he said he'd prove me wrong. Nope.

If you mailed the pipes to him, did he have an address, or a PO box? Just sayin'...if I had an address of someone who wronged me I might be tempted to wrong him back.

@ woodsroad, I thought about contacting the bar, but its for such a small amount that I did not think it would matter. Course wont know til I check. And I think I just may.

@ samcoffeeman, I do know where he works, that being said I think I will stick to making pipes and stay out of trouble.

Ok, let's see if I have this straight.
Rx2 restores some pipes for Hitt with agreed upon terms.
Restored pipes are shipped back to Hitt who goes into silent mode.
Rx2 bids on some of his auctions and doesn't pay, which wakes up Hitt.
Hitt uses the unpaid auctions as an excuse not to pay Rx2 for the restoration.
So, Hitt is out nothing except time wasted on unpaid auctions.
Rx2 is out $300 worth of restoration work.
Sounds like Hitt still owes Rx2 $300 minus whatever the time wasted was worth.

I think we have exhausted this topic and it's close to going downhill...Rx2..thank you for the "warning". If Hitt wants to respond he can open his own thread. Until then..be warned about dealings with Hitt according to Rx2's experience, and those that disagree, be warned about Rule 10 and attacking someone's intent to post...
