Have You Ever had a Pipe “Burn Through”?

I had a Stanwell with wonderful birdseye grain that developed a hot spot and threatened to burnout, but very careful smoking until I built up an adequate cake saved it. The only actual burnout I've had was on a cheap, no name freehand. I didn't appreciate at first that the reason it was so light was because so little wood was left in the side of the bowl.

Nope and i’ve had some real “value” pipes.

I know some people that burnt out a pipe or two and they freight train it pretty hard and also seem to buy Grawbows
