And, why is it that some people feel a need to put someone down for asking a simple question?
I just try to push them into broadening their view and knowledge of simple economics. It'll be a valuable shift in focus, help them to budget, make them aware of what impacts everyone, not just their wallet. It's obviously a big, wide world! More to be concerned with than the cost of blends, an extremely wee part of the economy to be sure. And, yes, I do realize I'm swimming against the current. Most people, sadly, have very narrow horizons.:sher:

Most have gone up but not all.
Look through your order history at Smokingpipes and you'll probably find a few blends that cost the same today as they did five years ago.

In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
lots of factors lead to that. Many unavoidable. Though I bet they're use the whole deeming regs as an excuse. Though frankly that's tiny compared to many other more complex harder to blame things. Like increased demand (doesn't ever work good to blame the customer, even when it is their fault ;) ). Increasing production costs money. And it might be more of a cost they could "eat" if they knew that the increased demand was going to keep going on after the pandemic passes. Or how much it would continue. Unpredictability can be expensive in it's own way.

I suppose it is all relative when you think about it. I am sure Dan's ancestors complained about the cost of Captain Crap circa 1770. I am sure tobacco cost a fortune in 1864 CSA Dollars. It has certainly gone up a lot in the U.K but after 25 years down here in the Colonies it still seems pretty reasonably priced to me. Inflation is a new thing to many people but I can still remember buying 10 Woodbine cigarettes for 45p or 25 Piccadilly No:1 for 70p circa 1979 and a 1/2 oz of Condor in the green foil cubes was 50p.

I can't remember where I heard it and I know I'm not smart enough to have said it first but "tobacco will never be cheaper or more plentiful than it is right now". Controlling for the odd sale or fad demand for the usual boutique blend, I'd put that statement right up there with death and taxes.

Or a brick of .22 for $8!
I remember getting them for $9.99.............. I bought some for my son-in-law for Christmas at Cabela's.......... they only had Winchesters in a vintage box........ $35 for 300 rounds........... OUCH, OUCH!!..............
Have tobacco prices gone up? Or am I imagining things?
Tobacco prices have NOT gone up............... the VALUE of the DOLLAR has dropped........
