No, I open many draught holes and increased bite is not an issue.

In the majority of cases, today You are only seeing these stringers in pipes fabriqueés en France, they'd make draw more restricted yet collect some moisture so to say will guarantee a wetter smoking experience, why they still are putting them at the assembly' line is a mystery to me, can't help asking if Frenchmen prefer gurgling pipes by chance,

I agree - I've never had a pipe designed with a stinger that worked worth a damn with the stinger in place.
