Thank you everyone for this thread !! I too noticed what I thought was the beginning of a burn out in my 35+ yr old Savinelli 2614KS. I came to the forum and searched repairing burn outs and found this thread. I reamed enough of the cake to determine that it was not a burn out but that some of the cake had fallen away. I reamed enough to even it out but not down to wood. I noticed the same in my newer Savinelli that I bought in February 2022. I have been using these pipes for fast smoke breaks and most likely smoking them too hot. I will change my habits. But Thank you for the info here !!! Greatly appreciated.Unfortunately I had some doubt and fear about it, after I read several article. Glad that it is clarified for me now.
I definetly going to think about repairing in this week. I have some time for it, 70 mph windy weather is not so pipe friendly anyway, if I'm correct
