Saving money on gas and items that we would normally buy that are not on store shelves. Making do with the supplies we have at home, won’t be a problem for a few months. Seldom buy tobacco unless traveling to the States so that is not happening. I bought 17 or 18 pipes in January-February so I was already limiting pipe purchases. There are also savings because we are only shopping for essentials once a week (max.) and there is less take-out or delivery.

Probably about the same.

We order just about everything online anymore. Even groceries.

I've been thinking of buying another pipe and some other things I would like to buy online. Unfortunately the Australian dollar has taken a dive which means prices in Euro are 185% of prices in Australian dollar. On the flip side, now would be a great time to send in some estate pipes for store credit...

Who could really follow Alaskan Piper? We’ve stocked and have not been out in weeks. We take a few deliveries and act as if they’re coated in nuclear waste. Fortunately my cellar could run me a few years if I needed it to. There’s a few things I’m not buying just because I’m neurotic - a bulk blend or two. Loving my Sutliff Victorian match all of a sudden! Probably would normally order more about now, but am not.

I was in Virginia yesterday, visiting restaurants (we're open carry-out/Drive-thru). I was pleasantly surprised to find the JB Hayes shop in Winchester open (a lot of VA is still open). They were out of the new Peterson/Dunhill MM965, but Matthew said wait a minute, and came out with a bag he had forgotten about in his store room . I had several of those humidifier packets inside and the tobacco appeared quite fresh. $15 for that and a tin of Full Virginia Flake. Jarred at home, I'm ready to ride out the pandemic.

I was on a tobacco buying spree before all this, just kept getting passed customs... them 2 tins of Sunday Picnic and wham 50$ in Duty. Dollar cost averaging and all is well but that has stopped.

Also bought a bidet, and a bike to avoid transit at all costs.

And one pipe since. But that’s it or my wife will shoot me!

Here
I deliver produce and pantry goods. Our workload has increased over 50% in the last 10 days. I've been busier that a one legged man at an ass kicking contest and tired as fuck, barely crawling into bed at night.

I've scaled back buying before this started. A few great deals from oldgeezersmoker and, for some odd reason, just grabbed a box of cigars. (Arturo Fuente Exquisitos) No needs, just a random impulse buy or two.

Laying low, trying to rebuild the financial buffer I depleted during my 5 months of healing last year.

I’ve definitely cut back on buying tobacco lately. Hoarding money is a must considering the uncertainty looming over the next 3-6 months. I also passed up a killer deal on a Peterson I would’ve bought without hesitation before this all started.

Speaking of financial buffers, here's some interesting stats:

A total of 1,100 Americans were polled, and one in four (25%) said they don’t have any emergency savings at all. Another 23% only have enough to get by for three weeks. While there is some help on the way in the form of $1,200 government stimulus checks, 42% said they’ll have to immediately spend that money on bare essentials like groceries.

When asked about emergency savings, less than 14% of respondents said they have enough to get by for a full year, and less than 15% have enough for three to six months. On a sobering note, about half of all respondents said they couldn’t even pay a month’s worth of expenses with their emergency funds.

I have $0 for emergency savings. Well, for any savings.

Yeah, my habits have changed. I used to use the GST credit money-back I get every 3 months to buy tobacco, or pipes, but this month's will have to be used for outstanding bills. No pipes or tobacco for the next few weeks.

Toronto!! You?
Well, Ontario is a big province, but somewhere up there! It's why I often append the following, as it saves dialogue and time.

You can put your location in your Profile, which will save questions in the future as to where you live should you mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos of surroundings, and so forth. Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details, which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down.
