Starting to Get Obsessed
Greetings, all! I am an Atlanta area pipe smoker, a recent convert after 25 years with cigars. After less than two months I have put together a decent collection of 9mm European estates, plus some American classics like Dr. Grabow, Medico, and MM. Pipe tobacco collection is currently around 2lbs, with 5 tins and the rest bulk varieties. My favorite bowl so far is Habana Daydream from a 4 year old tin I found waiting for me at the B&M.

Really love the burley blends and cavendish as well, Virginias not so much. But very excited, so much to try, been making my own crumble cakes, smoking up a storm. Cigars were fun but I only smoked on the weekends, which is just not enough smoke. Now, I can grab a smoke any time I've got 15 minutes. And, jeez, a good tin is under $15, which is what you pay for two utterly generic, mass market cigars. Love it. More smoke please.
Welcome from lndiana . . . Heck of a tobacco inventory for being a convert of less than two months!

I too am a recent convert from cigars-only . . . I've found the medium-to-full English pipe tobaccos to my liking.

Thanks, I've really tried to limit it to single ounce purchases. Found a lot of things I like and many that I don't!

Parkito, my favorite burley blends seem to be anything with burley, but I am sure I have tried some I don't like. Old favorites and standbys include C&D English blends like Old Joe Krantz, Billy Budd with cigar leaf, Stratfordshire, and Tuggle Hall. I like Peterson Irish Flake and 3-P.

In codger blends, SWR and SWRA are favorites. I have a longstanding enjoyment of Semois cuts medium and thick. A Forums member recently generously sent me some Esoterica Tilbury that is Virginia base with burley as a condiment that is about to spoil me. I enjoyed Nat Sherman 536 when that was still available before the Manhattan store closed, one of the most refined English blends I've tried with burley as a condiment. I like some burley bag tobaccos like D&R twice toasted burley and Ohm Red burley with Turkish. And so on.

I like other genres that are Virginia based and blends that don't contain any burley. I've never tired of Latakia because I smoke a lot of blends without it, so when it comes around, it still lends something extra.
