I raked the uphill driveway, steps and walk so the trick-or-treaters won't stumble on the acorns and break their bones. Now I have to attack the rest of the yard, but later for that.

Autumn is probably my favorite season, but Halloween elicits macabre imagery that I don't much care for. Maybe if I owned a Trevor Talbert goblin I'd feel different about it, but for the time being I'll settle for a bowl of Haunted Bookshop in a GBD bulldog.

I've given up spooky costumes, for me. The kids and probably their folks like a friendly greeting. I may wear my Stetson Derby, for a flourish. We usually get just a few groups of 'treaters, three or four sets of little ones, who are really into the magic of the evening, and a few older kids who are sort of mugging the householders for the candy, but are really into their inner kids.

I used to love dressing up for Halloween but the last few years I've kind of quit it. I guess retirement does that do you. I do like the little beggars coming round.

Had a great time last night smoking pipes on my front porch with my son and passing out candy to the kids. Very good turnout last night. Lots of super hero costumes.
