I saw Eric Clapton back in 2006 in Orlando. He had Doyle Bramhall & Derek Trucks backing him up on stage with their, also, unbelievable guitar playing. Robert Cray was the opening act, which also came onstage with Eric, Doyle, & Derek for a few songs. It was like blues, slide guitar sensory overload. The stars were aligned and all was right in the world.
Got excited when Slowhand returned on another tour in 2010. It was the last show date on a 20-25 city world tour. It sucked big time. Listless, no emotion, & cold as a cucumber. He blazed through that set list faster than a fat boy with a box of twinkies. The only thing he spoke outside of “Hello Orlando” was “ Goodnight Orlando.” He was obviously worn out and not into doing that last show of the tour, but WTF? It cost me a lot of $$ to go see his show. At least say I’m an old man, I’m tired, and screw off. I would have been more satisfied with that.
