Whatever they send to me, I usually make sure is sent, lol, with a good wash.
I'm sure we all notice this or that, but maybe if I've been chopping onions or peeling garlic which is great, otherwise they are what they are but not a source of existential wonder for me, but no judgments.

The only times I do is before I'm about to rub out a Flake, to make sure I don't have any residual hand soap or lotion scent etc.
And immediately after rubbing out University Flake

Rub back of your hands against each other fast. Smells like chicken shit.
my fingers smell like roses. Could be the nasal snuff that did it not really sure.
I was on public transit a few years ago and I started snorting snuff. Someone ended up calling the coppers and said I was getting high

But I did have a cop pass me while I was taking snuff and just got my attention and gave me a disappointed headshake and moved on.
If I pet the dogs and my hand has a distinct smell afterwards, I know it's time to give them a bath. As for loved ones, I like to go straight to the source and sniff my wife's head. No need to get the scent on my hand first. Eliminate the middle man.
