Hand-held rotary tool buffing

Hi Everyone,
I had to give up my workshop many years ago, and don't even have the space to buff my pipes like I used to. Instead, I tried a rotary tool with a buffing pad. The bad seems rather stiff. So, despite my better judgement, I used jeweller's rouge and then some yellow paraffin wax. The pipe turned out nice, but the stem looks like garbage. Not sure what to do, to fix it. The buffing bad left streaks on the stem (probably the rouge or the wax) and now I don't know how to get it off. Is there a better way to buff up the stem than what I'm trying to do? I read about the oil that you can buy, but this is an estate pipe that I just thought needed a bit more TLC than an oil could provide. But then again, I'm probably wrong.

For a shine i just thumb buff with plain white Colgate.


For oxidation removal you can use Magic Erasers. Those can remove streaks from buffing as well.

I have seen the fruits of your toothpaste labors over the years, but I have not had the opportunity to try yet. I am going to have to try magic erasers and plain white Colgate. The results are just so good

Though I use a lighter and a wet paper towel to remove oxidation, I advise the magic eraser as using a lighter can cause damage. The Magic Eraser does work wonders though.
