HAs something of a tomohawk shape to it, nice proportions, bowl height to length and mass distribution. Can't wait to see it finished.
Savinelli dubbed it yachtsman but it's really no more than a stylized bent dublin. It's the carver's attempt, triumph, and improvement of the shape. Once it has the black/crimson stain it'll be ready to join its siblings!
The 904, but vastly improved.
Especially over Savinelli's stunted offerings from the last few years. He based it off of one from the 1970s.

I think you're right. I don't usually care for fancy carved pipes like skulls and the like. But if I have a chance to buy that jack-o-lantern pipe I might make an exception.
