Old Half and Half was ripping strong burley and a good shot of Deer Tongue, yes. Closest thing I know today is Crooner.
What I’d like to know is, has Half & Half always had the fruity sauce, or was that added when the deertongue was removed from the recipe, in an effort to somehow “fill the void?”

I rehydrated a very old pocket-style tin, so it's possible something was missing, but I didn't detect any fruity sauce. It was golden burley, a pretty small cut, and deer tongue, visible, again very small pieces. And that's how it tasted.
