Title was corrected -Rule #9, Title Capitalization
Hi just received my pipe from ebay today ...spent 15 minutes rubbing with medium wire wool ..then a rub with furniture polish..
I will give it another go tomorrow..this might help someone.cheers

I would never let household cleaning chemicals anywhere near my pipes. Oils or waxes (such as jojoba oil or carnauba wax) do the job just fine and aren't toxic, nor will they introduce any off-flavors.
Best to stick with things that are food grade if at all possible.
Never buy estate pipes from SPC then.

I singe it off with a lighter and wipe it away with a damp paper towel. I follow with thumb buffing with plain white toothpaste for a mirror shine.

That's an often overlooked detail that a lot of people including myself have made. Thanks for mentioning that.
