I am a nicotine addict and have been since I was 10 or 11 that prefers his nicotine via the pipe. I enjoy the various flavors of the tobaccos I smoke which is something I choose not to do with cigarettes.

I love the tradition and ritual behind it. I love the smell of pipe tobacco and I love just smoking a pipe for relaxation. Sometimes I go weeks without smoking one when I get real busy and don;t have time to rewind. So it's all about the enjoyment of rewinding with a pipe. I could quit tomorrow if I wanted. No habit nor addiction for me.

Unquestionably a pleasurable pastime for me - neither an addiction nor a habit. I consider addiction to involve physical and/or chemical dependency. Days and sometimes weeks can elapse between my pipe smoking sessions: I think this means that I'm not addicted. As a matter of fact, the whole pipe aesthetic appealed to me when I was a kid because I could see that you could thoroughly enjoy a pipe without inhaling the smoke and without becoming a habitual smoker who develops a physical need to smoke a bowl. For me, the allure of the pipe involves the aroma of good pipe tobacco (smoked and unsmoked), the beauty of a well-made pipe, the sheer pleasure of smoking a bowl slowly and savoring the flavor, and the camaraderie of reflecting on the enjoyment with other pipe smokers.
