Hi there fellow brother of the low end! I don't play upright - only electric. Many years ago I tried upright for 6 months but found the transition much more difficult than expected. I use flats on my Precision bass - does that count?

I use half rounds on my P, I like just a tad more zing than flats give. If I really need that Motown sound, I just stick some sponge under the strings by the bridge.
