Thanks Chopper,Welcome from the Hawkesbury NSW.
Tassie is a beautiful part of the world [if one can avoid the dread-locked greenies that is]
For a few years I drove taxis as a 2nd job in Sydney.
I'm a confident driver. Yet after working in the Outback [along the Darling River] for around 18 months, I noticed that when I returned to Sydney, I was the slowest vehicle on the road. [Got plenty of glares from fellow drivers as they passed my old HQ station wagon that was still covered in red bulldust many months after my return. My car must have carried back a ton of the stuff that leaked from every panel, lol]
For over 35 years I was a slave to addiction, smoking 30-40 cigs a day. I was chronically addicted. Quit attempts were torture.
I'd tried pipes before but like an idiot I burnt my mouth on aromatics.
Over 11 years ago I'd had enough; I took my one pipe out of storage, bought some pipe tobacco and quit the cigs for good [Have neither had a cigarette since nor have I craved them since]
It was not that hard because a puff on a pipe was better than nothing.
After 4-5 days I was over the worst of the cravings [tailor made cigs have 300+ added chemicals, some of which are as addictive, if not more so, than nicotine]
Now I smoke anywhere from 3-7 bowls a day, depending on what I'm doing [Since I don't clench I need two hands to smoke a pipe]
If you want to be free of cigarettes, the trick is to switch completely to a pipe. As I said, after 4-5 days it's plain sailing from there.
My only regret is that I did not switch to a pipe much sooner.
Many of us Aussies here are now growing our own tobacco.
If you'd like some free Burley seeds send me a PM. [After this coming grow season I'll have 2 or 3 other varieties to share including at least one Virginia strain].
We have a few local "hippies" around here but we're pretty safe here though, now bogans are a different matter...
I used to be a 30-40+ a day smoker before I moved down here, I managed to give up once for 3 months but my wife at the time wasn't happy about it and kicked me out, I lasted 3 days before I had a cigarette and since then I have tried a couple of times to give up but just didn't have the will power..
Since I've moved down here I've gone to RYO and reduced my smoking dramatically, I have had a few days this month where I have run out of RYO tobacco and just smoked the pipe, so I know I can go without the RYO so I'm ordering some Pipe tobacco tomorrow and planning on giving it a proper go next week.
I'll send through a PM tomorrow when I get more time...
