Hello All,

I joined just over a month ago and time I actually introduced myself.

I lived in Canberra most of my life and moved here to Tasmania from the Australian mainland 7 years ago to a small country town with 42 houses, 20 minutes inland from the east coat of Tasmania and surrounded by bushland.

First started Pipe smoking in the mid 80's as a means to cut down on cigarettes and never quite got the hang of it and then returned back to the pipe about 15 years ago and with the aid of the internet my pipe smoking improved (slightly) but never took it up full time.

To this day I still smoke cigarettes, but have reduced this quite a lot compared to previous years and now smoke the pipe daily averaging 2-3 bowls a day, I generally smoke the pipe with the breathe technique as well as sipping and very rarely draw into my lungs, planning on saying goodbye to the cigarettes soon as I would much rather take up the pipe full time....

Cheers
Hidiho

not sure what's available to you, but snus can help quit cigs and if you go with los snus you can taper your tolerance down by using smaller and smaller pinches.
@anotherbob unfortunately Snuff, Snus and Chewing Tobacco was banned from being sold in Australia in 1991, it can be imported for personal use but that becomes a costly exercise...

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Welcome @Hidiho from Sydney. And Best Wishes on your efforts to get off cigarettes.

I think that the Trans-Tasman bubble might still be OK with Tasmania, but well and truly "popped" between NSW (Sydney) + Victoria (Melbourne) for the moment, at least
@OzPiper , Thanks OzPiper,

Apparently I lived in Sydney when I was 3 years old for just over 2 years but it must have traumatizing because I can't remember a thing.... To this day it still scares me driving through Sydney.

Sydney drivers are some of the rudest and most impatient on earth.

A sister-in-law returned to "the big smoke" after a decade nursing in the outback, where she used to drive hundreds of kilometres weekly. She bought a car, took one drive in it and was so traumatised by her experience that she had a massive panic attack. A brother-in-law had to "rescue her" by driving the car back for her. She sold the car after just that one drive !
