Welcome aboard from central N.C. It sounds like you've built a productive life despite your on-the-job accident. I minored in American history in school. Vernon Parrington is one of my favorites. My wife had a great time working in Texas on food stories for Newsday on Long Island, back when 'papers had money for reporters to travel. She has great memories of the food and the people, and its regional sense of itself.
