My turn to welcome you! :)
Thanks!
Have watched a few videos, including your girlfriend's, and looks like a lot of fun! Plus it gives me something else to drive my wife crazy with. Win, win!

Welcome. I applaud your wisdom for stocking up when you did. I fear the same things happening here in the USA and am aggressively building my own cellar. Glad you joined, look forward to your posting.

@paulie66scandinavian: Thank you! Incredible : everybody speaks french on this forum!! :)
@Chasing Embers: My greetings to your lady. You will drive her mad more or less, according to your talent :)
@hoosierpipeguy: Thank you! You call "wisdom" what other call TAD :) When I learned that McC. was ceasing the production, I felt very lucky with my stock. When I opened a classic Samsun tin 3 days ago (after ten years away from tobacco), I must admit that I did it with a certain emotion.

Hello from DC! I had a great time while in France ... my wife and I tossed any notion of a pre-planned itinerary and just winged it while in Paris. I find it a truer experience that way, stopping by a smaller eatery as if I was back home. Love the cheeses and afternoon wine, and I personally found the people very friendly (but I’m used to and “get” the big city vibe from working in DC / NYC)
Receievd a fantastic personal tour at Ruinart while traveling too; sampled a range of amazing Champagne’s I would have otherwise never explored!

I agree; you've been 115% proactive! There's only one bad thing you did --
The idea of Duane (chasingembers) with a nose flute is scarier than all the King's fleet bearing down on the Black Frigate from every direction!!

Welcome! It is nice to see fellow Europeans joining the forum, perhaps pipe smoking is gaining more popularity again? Even here in Leuven (Louvain, Belgium) the local tobacconist told me that more and more students are taking up the pipe instead of cigarettes.

Talking about nose flutes... I believe there is also something called a nose pipe? It is some indigenous method of consuming tobacco but no idea where I have seen it.

Hope you will have a great time on here and learn a lot just like I do! I just wonder, you coming from Lorraine, are you German speaking? One of the most popular baked goods here in Belgium originates from Lorraine, the Madeleine cake. Love it!

@artificialme : thank you! (and sorry, I missed your post)
@jvnshr : Thank you Jawan!
@kickinbears : Glad you enjoyed your tour in France! Yes, Ruinart is a great champagne! On my side, I was in DC in... 1980! (I was 16). I loved the Smithsonian and the Aerospace museum. I was living in Langley, in an American family. Quite near the CIA :)
@smittyd : thank you! I'll transmit to her. Well, yes, she's talented, that's why we call her the Nosy Diva !:)

Take a look there : The Queen of the Night
@bazungu : Thank you dear neighbour! Well, I'm from Nancy. My sweetheart is German, but my german is very poor... Schade:)
@armonts : Bonjour Monsieur! Well, you don't have to blow hard in a nose flute. Anyway, when you get the flu, you just use a handkerchief before playing :) Else, if really you are in a so bad shape, then just play 4:33 by John Cage ! :) Cheers! Amitiés

If you come back this way, and liked the Air and Space Museum downtown, you’ll love the one opened in 2003 near Dulles airport with a SR-71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle Discovery

@kickinbears : SR-71... what a beautiful plane (can we still call that ghost a plane?)
@artificialme : it's from a very stupid video I made to present this incredible Japanese nose flute, which is blown through a ... nose insert! (the nose insert is a little soft plastic soya sauce, the connexion is a plastic straw 'elbow', and the rest is bamboo. Very clever and very... elegant:)
@jpmcwjr : that's is a real pain for me to admit it : no, you can't. That's the only downside of nose flutes, you must keep the "louth hole" free. So, no stem in there. My only consolation is that players of kazoos, recorders, mouthharps, oboes, bagpipes, trumpets, trombones... can't neither.

@jacks6 : Thank you! Have you been there? Nice (the old city) is beautiful, and there's lots of great food! :)
@witchofthehollow : Thank you! Well, yes...I'm very lucky on that, and to have started it long time ago...
@tbradsim1 : Thanks to you! Oh! I made a washboard including a nose flute (and a charlie)! To listen to nose flute, easy! Check my girlfriend channel on YT : "nosymusic"

Oh, God. :) Next we'll have the Bazooka.
No, not what you think, & not the other what-you-think either. noseflute, this one you may not know. :) While everybody has images in their head of Marines blowing things up, the thing I'm actually thinking of was a joke instrument popularized (using the term VVERRY loosely) in the '30s by an actor/radio comedian named Bob Burns. When what we think of as a bazooka nowadays was developed for use in WWII, it was called that due to its similarity to Burn's [ahem] "instrument." [gag, choke]

I take full responsibility for all nightmares created by this monstrosity. But you'll have to catch me first. }:)

Right, I didn't know. But I want one now! (that's BAD! Bazooka Acquisition Disorder)

Thank you for introducing me to this subtle wind instrument.
Cheers!
