Thanks for the warm welcome! I don't have any mortas yet. They look pretty cool though! Do you collect them?Welcome from Oakland. I, too, enjoy pipes in all materials. Have you tried a morta yet?
I do - properties vary with age. Younger morta is still wood-similar, while older is similar to meerschaum (but more durable and less conspicuous). Morta pipes tend to be lighter than briar, more absorbent and ghost-resistant. They can get rather hot to the touch, yet seem to cool the smoke by drawing heat away from the tobacco. Recently I like them for Va/Pers, especially navy style coins. Thanks for the warm welcome! I don't have any mortas yet. They look pretty cool though! Do you collect them?
Welcome aboard, from Indiana.Hello, all! I'm an occasional lurker from Canada, and it's nice to finally join the forums. I have been smoking for a few years and enjoy different types of blends, but my main choice of smokes has been va/per, va/bur, aros, and occasional cigars. There are so many factors involved with picking just the right tobacco for a particular occasion; however, I probably shouldn't write a novel about it here! As for the pipes themselves, I have several briars, meers, cobs, and clays... Is this evidence of PAD?
I look forward to engaging with the warm and knowledgeable people here! Have a good one, everybody!
