Back then I found a "lesion" on my lip. I went to a cancer specialist to get it checked out. Turned out to be nothing thankfully. But at the time I thought maybe I had mouth cancer so I threw the pipes out in fear. I turned back to the hobby cause I really missed it & hey...we can't live forever so I might as well get some enjoyment.
