Hello all; glad to be a (small) part of the fellowship of pipers worldwide. I decided to become "more than a lurker" and join-up and post my initial introduction. My town I live in is North Bend Washington - a 45 minute drive due East from Seattle, directly into the foothills of The Cascade Mountains of The Pacific Northwest. I'm a founding member of The North Bend Pipe Club which currently consists of me and my next-door neighbor Adam!! ..."Quality, not quantity" is our membership mantra ;-) as we enjoy the benefits of smoking our pipes to good background music and quiet conversation. I've been smoking pipes (exclusively) since my first pipe in 1972; inspired while reading The Lord of the Rings (to be expected) and while only an occasional smoker all these years later, love it nonetheless! With this simple introduction I'll stop and say, "thank you for any sense of welcome offered, as well as grateful for your patience and kindness as I learn my way around your Forum". I've read your Rules as a 1st step and agree with them whole-heartedly. I'm not a strong internet presence nor a Forum personality; more a reader that a poster! Jim Gordon

Welcome from Pennsylvania and New York.

I'm a lifelong New Yorker. I've only been to your state two times (to visit friends in Seattle back in the '90s). I thought I might move there (the only time I seriously considered leaving New York up until recently).
My wife and I travelled into "upstate" New York in 1978 and we were shocked at the rich rural beauty. The city was too intimidating as we had no friends to meet up with and show us around! Seattle in the 90's is a lot different than Seattle 2022 ... not so sure you would find the allure nowadays but beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
