My favorite would be the Golden Peep. Burns terrible;but tastes delightful.

I was fortunate enough to be given samples of both Pembroke and Penzance - they're both complex tobaccos, and while I've enjoyed them both, my palate is not yet educated enough to really appreciate them fully, I think. There are other tobaccos I'll stock up on first... But I'm glad I had the opportunity to try them early on, so that I know approximately where I need to be in order to "get" them. :D

So. Cal.
chasingembers- Pirate Kake is great. You used to be able to buy a pound brick from SP for $28. I stayed away because of the low price, but when I finally tried it.

Penzance was languishing on the shelves of tobbaco shops before the Internet got really fired up. I've smoked many tins of it and yes, it's very good, creamy, great mouth feel, etc. There are however many other Balkan and English flakes that can go toe to toe with I believe. Pirate Kake, Gaslight, (yeah, plugs I know) come to mind and they are readily available and not $80 a pop. Try some and cellar it if it hits your buttons. We are living in the golden age of pipe tobacco IMO and there's just too many good blends out there to make me want to hunt down some very rare limited supply of one particular blend. These small blending houses are supplying the whole globe, they employ very few people and really don't give a rats behind if we have enough of their product or not. They sell everything they can tin regardless.
