Aside from wiping my pipes down with a Dunhill pipe wipe, I haven't used anything specific for the stems. However, since the start of 2025 I've been using mineral oil on the stems. I apply it and wipe off the excess as part of my post-smoke cleaning ritual. I can't tell yet if it is preventing oxidation, but it makes the stem look good and it makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my pipes so I'll likely continue to do it.

I’ve taken to keeping a small microfiber cloth (like the lens cleaner wipes that come with optics) next to my cleaners and such. I put a drop or two of Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner (emulsion of caranauba, beeswax, and FG mineral oil) on it and work it into the whole cloth.
After running a cleaner through pipe, the stem gets wiped with the little treated cloth and racked.
One treatment and cloth works for months, 12oz of BBC cost less than a tin of Ren wax, and does my cutting boards as well.
