I started out with a Dr Grabow Omega and a cob when I was 19. ( I'm 49 now)

I only bought SWR and sometimes used Jack Daniels on it.

It's only been the last 6 years or so that I've crossed over and smoked other brands from the local drug store. And only 2 years since I started ordering couple brands online.

My Dad schmoked Sir Walter Raleigh in a Dr. Grabow all through my childhood. Later he switched to Half & Half.
He rotated 4 pipes and used a gravity fed tobaccy pouch.

I hate to admit that I am close to "that guy", I have many pipes and a few different tobaccos, but I have my Silvano Dongo pipe and the good old Captain as my always go to baccy and pipe. I try the other blends but usualy wind up in the end back with the Captain... I like the flavor and aroma, it has and I never had a bad comment of anyone who walked into my smoking lounge nor on the street, so yeah I guess I am a bit like "that guy"

My grandfather was like this. Burn out a pipe and my grandma would buy him a new one, burning through bulk bags of baccy like it was his job. I guess before he switched to the pipe, he finished over 2 packs of cigarettes each day.
He's still around to talk about it too!

Your grandpa, like my dad, was a pipe smoker. I guess that makes me a pipe collector who smokes.

My Dad claimed he tried "everything" before he settled on PA, but I never saw him with anything else except maybe some SWR. He bought me my first pouch of PA. I didn't like it at first, but it became an acquired taste. I started out with aromatics.

I'm just the opposite. I keep a bunch of different blends here and switch between them all the time. When I first started smoking I did pretty much stick to Carter Hall and Amphora Red and once in a while would stop at the local head shop which carried a few aromatics. When I discovered the internet it opened a whole new world up to me. My wife thinks I'm crazy for having so many different blends here.

Dad always smoked SWR. If I would buy him something else to try he would never try it "straight". He would mix it with SWR then smoke it. He liked it that way. I remembere on vacation once he ran out and we drove to five or six stores in the mountains until he found his tobacco of choice.

My Dad use to smoke Heine's Blend or Sail Yellow during the week then on the weekend was time to break out the "Three Nuns." I have two or three main stay blends from L.J. Perreti & Gawith that I smoke on a weekly basis but I am always trying different flakes and oriental blends. As for pipes I can become fixated on several during the course of the week, or, I might smoke two or three different pipes a day. Depends on my mood
