I wish I could figure out why I've been so blessed. Kind of scares me at times, I wonder when is going to turn the other way. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hoosier,

Congratulations on the new addition to your family and especially to the new parents. Best wishes to mother and bub.

I hope your son-in-law is open to sharing a fine cigar with you to celebrate this momentous occasion.

My SIL indeed enjoys fine cigars and bourbon. How do you think I justify speaking highly of him? I'm very fortunate, he has a great career, he is a fine young man, he and I get along very well.

I've never understood why grandparents can have a more affectionate tie to their grandchildren than the parents themselves.
But:
old age grandparents have weathered their personal storms, and they are wiser.
Also, it falls to the parents to support and raise the children, so grandparents don't have that pressure, and they can enjoy the children that much more.
This is mostly right. As grandparents, we're no longer enduring all the other pressure and stress. We also are more aware of our mortality and cherish the purity and innocence of youth.

Hoosier,
You are fortunate indeed.
Both my sons are anti-smoking, and both their wife/partner are quite abstemious, so having a "session" with either son is a rare event.

A huge dilemma on what to do with the wine and pipes and cigars, come the time. :(

After two beautiful Granddaughters, Asher Michael Edeburn was delivered by my Daughter just a bit ago. 8 lbs 1 oz, everyone is healthy. Praise the Lord! I'm so happy for my Daughter who is such a great Mother and I'm a bit happy for myself. My Son in Law also extends his family name, he's a great young man. We're baby sitting the almost four year old today and tomorrow, she's already worn me out today.
Congrats my friend
