I'd had my eye on this one at my local B&M I'd had my eye on this one at my local B&M for months and decided to finally get it. Last year there was another meer I had my eye on (a Scottish Highlander) but somebody else beat to me to it. I'm not sure when I'll have time to smoke the first bowl but I'm thinking the debut smoke with be PS Norwegian in homage to Sherlock's canonical preference of shag.

I can see why you'd have your eye on that pipe. I can see why you'd have your eye on that pipe for months.
Glad you finally decided to get it, it's a great looking pipe
Thanks, I love that it's figural one that doesn't hold too awkward and that the shank has latticing. My local primarily sells cigars so I haven't been in there much because my Tupperdor is past capacity, so I figured this was a good way to give them a month's worth of business.

Hard to beat an accurate, well done figural piece. I'd love to get a meerschaum one day but I must be the only one here that prefers the bright white, brand new look as opposed to the colouring from smoking. If they stayed that brilliant white I'd have a few.
I like your rationale regarding your B&M, I'd do the same if I had the opportunity.

I first saw a meerschaum pipe in a Civil War movie (don't recall which), it was shaped like a lion. I assumed it was ivory, I guess the prop people didn't know they colored or they would've gotten a well used one because I don't think a general on a campaign would've had time to get a new pipe. If you want a figural pipe that stays white there's a few options with clay, Old German Clay and Old Dominion make them.

Buy one or a few just to look at and some to smoke. I've had this one for years and it'll never see a flame.
