Trying some Black House in it now. Maybe I'm prejudiced (ya think?) but this pipe is for English blends. The VA was tasty in it, but as predicted, the Dark Side seriously beckons in this thing. I already have a dedicated Black House pipe, but I think this one is going to be for mostly, if not entirely English!

Nice! I'm bringing Black House to work today. Let us know how it is in the Dunhill. I bet it'll be a beautiful matchup.

Been smoking this baby for about a week now. It seems to be made for Balkans. I had some Black House in it and today I'm smoking some Sextant. It's a very cool smoking pipe and consistent. I have to say I totally reccommend Dunhill (as if Dunhill needed my reccommendation)and I will certainly buy another. My next conquest is still the 1973 Root Briar but for now this 1969 Shell will certainly keep me a happy smoker.

You've probably got it exactly right, Baron. I don't know why but I always seem to smoke English/Balkan blends through my Dunhills and it seems that they just taste a little better. Maybe because thats what the makers had intended? I don't know but enjoy that beauty!

Dude, there's a speck of tip-ex or something on your stem, you should polish that off!

I noticed that, too. It's light but sturdy. It clenches well. Once I cleared most of the oxidation, I did put some heat shrink tubing on the bit. It already has some bite marks and I didn't want to add any. I really feel like I got a deal at $100 for a 40+ year old pipe that just needed a cleaning and some shining up. I have some cool old pipes now. I have my 48-55 Kaywoodie, a couple of 60s-ish Longchamps and now the 69 Dunnie. Each pipe is like a piece of history.
