I just bought two more, so I’ll have one in my car and one for my son, who uses his small one a lot trading lawn equipment. These new ones have about four times the amp rating of the one he’s happy with.

A jump starter is like your spare tire.

You may not ever need it, but if you do you need it you need it damned bad and right then.

Gooloo calls these refurbs, but mine is brand spanking new.

These are rated from -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and need a charge every two years.

There’s two USB ports and a USB C port and a dongle for a 12 volt plug.

I've got a jumper in my Jeep. Made sure I have that, cables, tool box, fuses, spark plugs, and a first aid kit.

I keep jumper cables. Other people will always reluctantly give you a jump.

I’ve kept jumper cables in all my vehicles for fifty years.

And maybe twenty five years ago I bought jump starters—-that really sucked. They’d work except when you needed them.

The Whistler I bought and gave to my son is a wonderful little gadget for small engines.

This new one has the same crank amps (800) as a truck battery and it costs $50.



And, its wife proof.

This gadget cannot be hooked up backwards. There’s one plug in for both cables. It’s safe. And it’s supposed to last two years between charges and it has circuit breakers that ought to let it get a dead battery back to starting voltage.

My 2012 Chrysler has a glass mat battery in the trunk that lasts maybe two or three years and I’ll use mine way more than my wife will use hers.

I read where this new one will jump a 10 liter diesel semi.

What these are, is development of ultra cheap 18650 lithium car batteries.



Next year America will sell about 16 million brand new cars and light trucks (assuming no 2008 level recession) and every one will have a jack, a spare tire and a battery.

If I was the King they’d have to have an 800 crank amp jump starter over the spare.

They’d cost ten bucks maybe, if there was enough production.

Back 15 years ago when I was selling Chevys, I was shocked to discover that Chevrolet had replaced some spare tires with inflator kits. The "spares" that they replaced weren't spares anyway, they were dounts.

It'really a damn shame... If you spend 40-80 grand on a car you'd think you might get a spare tire and rim.

I used my $50 Gooloo Jump Starter on my Yamaha Rhino and it exceeded any of my expectations.

If vastly exceeded the output of the little battery on the Rhino. My trouble was the relay would stop it after ten seconds or so spinning faster than with a brand new battery. Then some little computer inside learned how much to discharge and it started.

These would start tractors or semis or whatever needed a jump.

Hurry up before the dad blasted gubbermint tariffs these gadgets more than they already do.
