If you want a rather high quality sweet Virginia, that is easy to light, and is a delightful smoke do yourself a favor and try Dan Tobaccos Hamborger Veermaster. This wonderful blend, especially for a newer smoker, is available from smokingpipes.com.

It would be an easier question to ask which ones are not sweet, as sweet is the main characteristic of all Virginias. The one Virginia that I didn't find any sweetness to was Tillbury. It smoked like a earthy, nasty cigar to me. All of the rest has some form of sweet to the palate taste, IMO.

Smoking Hal Ô the Wynd right now. Sweet and tasty as always. Virginia No 1 is very nice, but I've found must be dried out crispy, packed very loose, and smoked slow as all hell in a wide bowl. At least that's how I like it.
