Good morning all i thought i would join and introduce myself instead of lurking.

I've smoked on and off for 16 years now but about 2 years ago a couple of friends of mine introduced me to cigars don't get me wrong i enjoyed smoking them but stopping for a break at work and trying to smoke a nice cigar dont go together in my sense.

But last year one of the friends who introduced to cigars bought his pipe along on one of our trips i was fascinated by them and also coming from a mining family you see the old timers with there clay pipes so i took a leap into the world of pipes.

(Please don't shoot me now)

Instead of picking up a a corn cob like most people say for a beginner i had seen a very nice pipe in a local antique shop for a respectable price so i purchased said pipe a researched a fair bit online/youtube in which bought me to this wonderful community and brings me to now.

Currently enjoying a bowl of condor.

Kind regards
David..

Welcome from S.W Michigan. There is no right or wrong way to get into pipe smokeing. Guys say cobs because they are cheap and if you break it or odd chance you don't enjoy the hobby your not out alot. But a nice pipe is a good place to start for sure. I too smoked cigarettes and cigars before finding out how fun, relaxing and enjoyable puffing a pipe was.

Welcome from the Central Coast of California!

You live in a great shire! Pasties all around! :)

I think starting with a well chosen estate pipe is a very fine way to go.

Enjoy!

Welcome my friend. And don't worry about right or wrongs. Some people say to start on a corncob ( I started on an antique shop find like you). Some say aromatics for beginners others say beginners should never start on aromatics as they smoke wet and can become bitter. Just do as you want my friend!
