Hi Everybody,

I haven't been on any forums for a few years, and this is my first pipe tobacco related forum!

How I got started:
About three or four years ago my small group of friends and I took a weekend off at my buddy's beach house. On one of the nights we watched LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring, which you already know has quite a connection with pipe smoking. One of my dear friends brought his Churchwarden and some aromatic tobacco and was smoking it while the movie played. He actually encouraged me to give it a puff since I was curious yet apprehensive, so I did! And what I remember was how smooth and sweet it was! It was more than likely Captain Black Royal, but the long Churchwarden stem did a fantastic job cooling and smoothing it out into a delightfully aromatic puff. From there I bought a short stemmed clay pipe (that still hasn't broken on me!) and Some of my own Captain Black tobacco pouches. Along the way I discovered there's more to pipe smoking than codger blends and have been extra hooked ever since! I guess what separates me from everyone else is my origin story does not stem from my late grandfather smoking a pipe.

My favorite tobacco blend: Paradoxical by Sutliff
This is by bar my favorite blend out of all that I've tried. Every time I try something new that I enjoy, I see how it stacks up to Paradoxical on the enjoyment meter, and I come to the same conclusion that this blend will be hard to dethrone. Due to the fact it was a limited release I had cellared deep in this blend so I am not worried about my own supply running dry any time soon, but good golly gosh Sutliff needs to make this a permanent offering. It's sweet, nutty, tangy, mellow, and earthy; and with age I'm excited to see how the flavors transform. It hits the spot for me. Special thank you to Per Georg Jensen for such an amazing blend.

My favorite pipe: Whiskey Pipe from FloggleWerks with a 12 inch curved stem
What makes this pipe special to me is that it was a gift from the friend that introduced me to pipe smoking. It however also smokes great with a small bowl (which I prefer), requires minimal relights, and always smokes all the way down to ash. It's made of maple wood so I don't expect it to last forever, but I'll enjoy every smoke out of it for as long as I can.

I hope to get to know everyone in the coming days!

Best regards,
Sean

Welcome! Nice Intro.....Please put your location in your Profile, as people are forgetful.
Why: It will save time for others as to where you live when you mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts, and for you in not having to reply to inquiries. .
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.
