Good Cold/Gloomy Weather Foods.

I usually like making chili when the weather is dark, cold, gloomy. 44 and raining here tonight. Winter storm warning as well. So, it's a good night to be inside by the fire.

Decided to try something I've never made before tonight. Got a nice batch of Beef Stroganoff simmering away in the kitchen.

Any other comfort food ideas?

I impatiently wait all year for these cold nights so I can use my oven. I refuse to fire it up while the AC is running.

Two days ago, we made a Guinness Beef Stew Pie with a Cheddar Thyme crust that made me forget the other 7.75 billion of you for a half hour.

Today the temperature is back up, so it's cabbage with chicken bratwurst, slow cooked with some caramelized red onion, caraway and allspice.

Potato and leek soup and sourdough bread and butter was mighty good.

"Coq a vin" or, in English, chicken stewed in wine. Big, thick, buttery French bread croutons are a great touch.

No, but I've had them together both in the roux bath.

Fish chowder with Shrimp, Blue Crab, Snapper or Pollock, Oysters, and Clams. No potato fillers.

Gumbo.

Chili made Texas style with whatever beef cut you like and Chile's only.

Slow roasted pork ribs in a Romertoph. Don't forget the tomatoes and at least one carrot to break down all of the goodness. Man. Guess I figured what I'm eating tomorrow evening.
