So, got CT Scan done. Results show good chance of further strokes/TIA. Well, screw me x) Not sure there is a surgical solution or not right now. Sent email to my neurologist to see what is the game plan. Probably due to too much fun and.. Wait for this.. DIABETES! LOL!!! Everything is due to diabetes. Just enjoying Bushmills to see if I can come up with a good plan. Thank God I have two Rolex. Have two sons. Good thing they are both above 18. Chances are I'll live 20 more years waiting to kick the bucket. Forums are good for spilling my guts out to people who never met me. Still friends.

Maybe check with another doctor for another perspective and maybe more options? Maybe an older doctor if you've got a young one, or vice versa (experience vs. latest techniques). I think I've read that baby aspirin daily can help prevent strokes, but check with your doctor first. And enjoy each day!

While I have no medical knowledge at all I agree with getting a second opinion if the only respons was don't have to much fun and it's because of diabetes. No further medical advice like meds or anything else? I think live is to short to not enjoy it, whatever your definition of enjoying life is.

Pets can for sure detect there is something "wrong" with you, either you not knowing or knowing. My mom had bad migraines, our dog sensed it before she got it. When she took meds to his reaction her migraine wasn't as bad.

+1 on another (or more) opinions.

MDs are just humans, and all groups of humans---regardless of their specialty---fall into a bell curve of competence and ability. And certifications merely establish a minimum level of it.

Also, specialist doctors have a habit of seeing only how a patient's problems relate to their "world". Hammers that recognize only the nails they are familiar with.

I liked your post, but not because I like that you have health problems. Its very confusing because you aren't necessarily looking for negative replays and emojis...I would put the frowny face but then that puts a negative tick in your history! Oh jeez social media in what have you done!

🤘I'll just leave this here my friend!

I hope another opinion offers a more positive outlook. Are you still smoking and consuming alcohol? Not being judgmental, just curious and wondering what your doctor is saying. I have ulcerative colitis and should quit smoking. Not reached the stage where I'm ready to accept that.

CT scans can tell you if you had a stroke. They can’t predict future risk. On the other hand diabetes is a definite risk factor for stroke, especially if it is poorly controlled.
They actually can. It's called a Cardiac Calcium screening. It looks for calcium build up in the arteries which "can" indicate a higher chance of having a stroke.

After a night of heavy drinking, feeling much better. I'm not a doctor and I don't really understand the results. I can see what they said on results and somethings are blocked. Brief search indicate it increases the chance of stroke/TIA. Possible surgery seems to be an option. So need to talk to my neurologist to find out exactly what's going on and what my options are. Can't really predict if there will be another stroke or not. Might not happen at all.

Have you been put on a blood thinner or at least a low dose aspirin daily?

The hematologist I went to a few months ago mentioned a study that showed aspirin something like 5% less effective than Xarelto (which is extremely powerful) as a preventative. He got me started on aspirin not necessarily as a preventative but as a good insurance measure. In his words, "Aspirin really is a miracle drug. If it were invented today the pharmaceutical companies would be asking $5,000/pill. It's that good."

Not sure if it's right for you but definitely worth asking about.

Certain conditions other may offer elevated risk, like fibromuscular dysplasia.

In a sense, you always have to be your own physician, using the professional skills of the M.D.'s available. Second opinions are good, but select your specialist carefully. I think diabetes puts you in the endocrinology category. Get that under control first, since that may have keyed the stroke(s).

I'd stick with medical degrees and science. I think an endocrinologist might send you to a dietician for a consultation. Watermelon is out, for some reason. Lots of small meals on a regular schedule are good.

You sound in good spirits. One thing at a time. Stick around.
