First off I am a very new pipe smoker. I start back in July. I have been smoking Captain Black gold pack and I really like it, but it makes me pretty dizzy after about half the bowl. The lady at the tobacco shop told me the Captain Black white pouch has less nicotine so I tried that. I can smoke a whole bowl of the white and hardly feel it, but it has very little smell or flavor. Now I plan to make a tobacco purchase this week. I plan to get some McClelland Christmas Cheer and McClelland Holiday Spirit. I was wondering if you guys and gals could recommend a daily tobacco for me to try that is low in nicotine but still has a really good aromatic to it.

I'll second the Lane's Q-1 suggestion and also recommend Lane's LL-7. You likely to enjoy both of those.

Altadis/Sutliff have just brought out several nice mild aros that have good flavor; two I like are Dark

Obsession, a black Cavendish with a dash of walnut flavor, and Queen Anne's Revenge (Bluebeard's

flagship) that is Virginia, Burley, and a flavoring of rum. All of these are pleasantly mild but have

engaging flavor.

Lane's 1Q like stated by everyone else, I would advise against Holiday Spirit you may have a different outcome, but to me it taste like someone sprayed women's perfume on my tongue, but to each their own.

Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions! It seems that 1Q is a very popular suggestion. I might have to pull a few bucks out of savings and go on a tobacco sampling spree!

Lane Q1 AWESOME! That is going to be my everyday smoke. I play to order a few OZ of it next week. I'm also going to try a few more brands. Any recommendations on some really sweet aromatics?

I recently started smoking Trout Stream and have found it to be one of my favorite tobaccos. It's a great aromatic and I think it has a lot of flavor.

pipermicah, you might want to buy your tobacco gradually, and pick up some bulk tobacco during sales

that crop up from time to time at smokingpipes.com and others. Sometimes when

tobaccos are introduced, they can sell for about half price. You can put a nice rotation in place for starters,

then await a good discount sale or two to buy more.

You might want to try Sutliff's Molto Dolce if you like the 1Q. It is very mild and sweet however it is quite wet. I sometimes mix it half and half with Prince Albert for a very nice mild smoke. Good luck on your tobacco quest!
