I guess I didn’t think this through before posting. I don’t limit my purchases. I do SP, 4Nogg, TP, Estervals, WC, and such.
I was just commenting how fast they fly off the shelves from SP.

Yeah, I think it's because they are probably the most well known and have the biggest following. But, be advised that their email alert system is convoluted and generally not useful to most people due to the way it seems to work.

I put various blends on my "wishlist" and glance every now and then to see if they are available. On at least two occasions, I saw availability before the email notification was received.

Not that it matters since some purchasers are more vulture-like than waitresses and free/messed-up food. Seriously, my brain just isn't wired to conceive of some of the tobacco ordering (or restaurant) scams. I suppose I'm just a "mark" whose faith in humanity gets eroded more each day.

It’s sold out cause there’s a run on most anything perceived to be of quality, especially Virginia/VaPers. Folks that’ve not even sampled Escudo are likely buying it in quantities cause reviews & reputation have told them too. Fear of increased scarcity fuels this. And, it’ll likely to be the norm for all non-?? produced blends in the States going forward. Hopefully I’m wrong.☕

Yep. But, that reputation was based on a tobacco blend that is no longer made. It's just a label with a famous name on it.

I hear Jesse. ? It’d seem, based on your insights and those of other well-healed and experienced pipers, that the “bait & switch” employed by the likes of STG, K&K, etc. hasn’t really affected sales to the point of folks caring whether it’s the same blend it was 5, 10, 15 yrs ago. I’d love to smoke some of the Escudo from 15-20 yrs ago, but that’s not gonna happen. The rest of us folks will have to be satisfied with what is currently produced. I appreciate the flavors of yesteryear. And, selfishly I do hope your comments give folks pause when going for it…but it’d appear it hasn’t worked just yet. Damn, the Cope & other stuff must have been so sweet ta ?…cause I rather enjoy our Escudo for what it is. ☕

The only benefit to the STG version is that there is no point to aging it. Actual Escudo really blossomed with aging. The perique went from black pepper to a wonderful fruitiness. I don't know if the contents of the STG changeling are injected with Botox, or coated with silicone vibrafoam. It doesn't develop. It's the Dorian Gray of tobacco blends. Somebody needs to drive a stake through its heart.

You're MUCH better off spending your filthy lucre on PS-LBF and putting it away for 4 years. The difference is night and day. And that day is beautiful.
