These two beauties showed up on my doorstep this fine morning, all the way from Missouri. It took about a month.

I am very surprised by how robust and woody this corncob is, and recall @chasingembers saying it is a specific variety of corn, developed for pipe making. The acrylic stems I like, but they are a bit loose which is a bit annoying, perhaps they'll tighten over time.

The Dagner is a tiny little thing, but the bowl is decent for a single flake of something, while the MacArthur is hefty and fairly deep.

Now to decide what to grace them with for their first smoke, any ideas? I got some unopened MacB Bold Kentucky I want to try, and a number of VaPers I know well. I'm not feeling it for Latakia, and don't have any aros, for me these will be VaPer pipes.

I have the dagner poker cob that has served me well for fishing and general use for about 2 years now. It was the first sitter pipe for me. It comes in handy when i hook up with a fish so i can just set the pipe down. If the stems are a little loose just put a drop of water in and the wood will swell and tighten the metal band or stem.Enjoy the new pipes.

I like the Dagner and other special edition cobs with acrylic stems, with no hassle replacing the soft plastic stems. I have several. You'll like it. I like burley so that is often my cob choice, but they do well with most tobaccos.

Yep, will do, the shank is glued in, but the metal band is not, which is a bit weird, so when I pulled the stem off the little band went flying, is this normal? I need to do something about that, any suggestions other than water?

All the way to Athens, Greece! Enjoy many years with those! I ordered a Forever Stem that’s transformed my Cob(s) into something that feels more substantial. If MM would only offer more choices of stems. I second the burly in the Cob.
I'm fine with how the stems look and feel - much prefer acrylic overall - but I would like them to be tighter like on my briars. Believe it or not it is cheaper to buy from MM directly and get them sent over the Atlantic Ocean than buy these in Athens, where in the best case scenario the US$ sign is replaced with a Euro sign, and in the worst case scenario in some shops the figure is then doubled :)

Beautiful. I’m already drooling at the idea of stuffing a VaPer flake in the chimney. As an aside, I have dedicated one of my cobs to trialing homegrown. You might consider getting another one in the future and doing the same
I got a crate full of my homegrown, need to process it but right now I'm looking after both my young kids so there's little time, will do in a week or so when my wife is back.

There’s nothing like a good smoke in a Missouri Meerschaum. Gotta have it once in a while. You’ll have to report on the inaugural smokes. Congrats and enjoy! puffy
As for a first smoke, I had one in the Dagner and it was delightful. It was Motzek's Halo Twist, delivered as I know it, smooth and cool smoking, wide open drawn which I really like. I am already kicking myself for removing the Freehand from the cart before firing the order out... Of course getting it now would be stupid if it was to travel over the ocean solo so...

Ain't is silly, I'm sitting here with a big smile on my face all due to hollowed out ears of corn, essentially a kid with new toys!

I'm happy you've found cobs. Now, just order about 7 or so Prides and one or two good stems for em and take your time breaking in those 'nekked'/unfinished cobs. You gotta get some carbon built up on the inside walls to assure bowl integrity. Being natural, they will burn.
