There are many flake fans on here (including the pre-eminent Flakemaster himself, the oddly named Cigrmaster), but I have seen little discussion of this blend. I am thinking of trying some, but would first like to get your views - good stuff not? Where does it fit in the pantheon of flakes?

I am with roth on this one. I bought a tin a few months ago, smoked it twice and was not impressed. It is kind of boring with not a lot of the sweetness I expect from my Va flakes. I put it away and will revisit in a few more moths to see if it has gotten any better.
I personally would not take a shot Peck, wait a few months and I will give you a heads up on it. If you are looking for a kick ass GL Pease flake I highly recommend the Navigator. I smoked one bowl of it and ordered 33 tins. I am down to a half a bowl of the first tin and loved every bowl I smoked. I believe it is going to age beautifully but I really enjoy it fresh. I will be cracking another tin of it tomorrow.

It seems too fresh (if that makes sense) and didn't offer anything exciting. It did leave me wondering if it would improve if cellared for a few years, but I wasn't intrigued enough to by more of it to find out.
That was my sense of it exactly. Granted, it was one of the first few VA's I ever smoked and I've always wondered if my technique wasn't up to snuff when I tried it, but hearing roth's and Harris's takes on it, I don't think it was just my technique. It does smell delicious in the tin, though. And it may become really interesting with several years of age, but there's plenty of other great flakes to smoke.

Union Square is a straight Virginia and Navigator is not. US is a good introduction to Va. IMO. It has a pleasant room note and was ready to smoke out of the tin. It is mild so no N kick. YMMV. I liked it. :puffpipe:
