Hi all,
My name is Doug aka jagsdriver. My background, Years ago I founded the Vancouver Pipe Club. For many years I was the administrator of Smokers Forums.com. During my years there I founded IPSD with the help of the Pipe Club of Lebanon. I have been absent from pipe smoking on line for a number of years. I am sure I will meet many of my many friends over the years. Hello to all.

Doug

Hi. I remember your posts from Smokers Forum pipe section if memory serves me correctly.

That's a great question Sir. Being an admin on a very popular Pipe site at the time, the time put in was enormous, literally every day. No regrets, I was dealing with great people. Never quit enjoying the briar. I am a guy that just needs to be involved. I was on a civic committee to do with traffic control in our city, I was seven years as a volunteer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with Community Policing mainly with city business liaison and headed many of their programs and headed a great number of training. So in essence, I just took a break. I am really pleased to see many people I know here.

Do you have any clue as to what happened to some of the SF regulars

George Dibos - he's on here
Neill Archer Roan - out of the hobby (or at least doesn't participate in any pipe forums, FB pages, to my knowledge)

Mike Castello - he started the "What are you doing this Sunday" thread, I lost track of him.

Yo Doug! Welcome and I'm glad to see you and that you're doing well. SF and IPSD were big parts of my formative years in piping. That was hundreds of pipes and almost 2,000 blends ago. I enjoyed everything about SF: the people, Chat Room, special subforums, and the incredible abundance of knowledge not available anywhere else - and unfortunately after the system crashes, now gone forever. I enjoyed our discussions also about Jaguars and pondered coming up to NW US/SW Canada to chase cuties.

SmokersForum came along at the perfect time when the world was switching from dialup to cable internet. Unlike the inmoderated troll plagued big board at the time ASP, SF was run pretty strictly. It was well moderated and trouble makers were shown the door.

Great to see you here Les. Yes I remember the many conversations we had. lots of water under the bridge. My wife suddenly passed away so I steeled myself and was prepared to carry on by myself. Well as we all know, things happen. I met a lady and we hit it off and got married. She is a Doctor specialist Phd etc and professor of medicine so I am well looked after. She is an absolute Gem.
Talking about Jaguars, we fairly recently moved to Vancouver Island and we joined JCCV (Jaguar Car CLub of Victoria). The club puts on the biggest Jaguar meet in North America. People come from all over the continent.

This is a photo early in the morning before all the cars arrived, the field gets packed.

As for Smokers Forums, those were great years and fine members like yourself. After time, we all went our own ways.

Neill Archer Roan has / had a superb collection of older Comoy’s, used to post about Blue Riband grade pipes with beautiful photography.
