Not everyone's approach, but my gifts for the best man and groomsmen and ushers were individual to each person and something I knew they would enjoy having and using based on their interests and/or shared interests. Smoking gifts for people that don't smoke - lame. If you can't come up with something original I suppose some nice engraved pens (which one or more might actually really enjoy), maybe some special cigar related thing(s), maybe including a special lighter, for a cigar smoker, whatever. Think about it . . . then think some more . . . I assume it isn't next week.

You don't even smoke a pipe, not even all of them smoke at all, and those are cigar smokers. There is no "connection" at all so it isn't meaningful or worthwhile. Chances of someone displaying a pipe as a "conversation piece" in their professional office is more than a stretch. Some notion they might get into smoking a pipe - again, encouraging something you got out of and they aren't into and likely won't be. "Here, in case you think about taking up smoking."

Not a thoughtful gift, and something that is unlikely to be received well, even if nobody tells you, which they likely won't if they are your friends.

Give the matter some thought and come up with something worth giving.
We’re all a bit older now, and novelty or something out of the norm is welcomed in our group. Certainly more so than “more of the same.” At our stage in life, anything we want for our hobbies and interest we usually just buy them ourselves.

Should note that the decade or so ago was back in college, which 6/9 of the groomsmen were present for.

Overall though, just came her to ask a questions to those who would have familiarity on the topic. Absolutely was NOT to ruffle feathers or start a debate on the topic. But if you have any other gift ideas I’m more than happy to hear them!

Certainly wouldn’t get you a gift that’s outside of your interest, but judging by that awesome looking dog in your profile, perhaps a new upland field jacket would be sufficient!

I wouldn’t spend anywhere near $100 on pipes for people that are probably not going to use them. I think $30 on a Missouri Meerschaum, or some Crown pipes if you really want briar, is plenty good enough and will give you the photo op you want and still be useful for those who actually try to smoke them. I admit I don’t know how you’d go about getting them engraved, so that may be a dealbreaker here. But I will also say that as a groomsman many times over, having my initials engraved on a gift never made it any more meaningful. The meaningful part simply comes from being part of something with people important to me, and being given a gift at all was fun.
I think you nailed the sentiment of our group at the end there and good call on the practical advice. I’m also getting each of them a printed copy of my favorite picture of us together. Been a blast going through those, especially for the friends I’ve had since childhood!

No feathers ruffled, just a little older, more gray hairs, seeing something that just doesn't fit my life experiences. But you know your friends, nobody here does. If it has to be a pipe, consider some Chris Morgan Bones pipes, maybe some communal tobacco, some cigars for those that want to partake after a dinner, or a pre-wedding get together, make it a fun thing as more of a diversion, if you will, and maybe (up to you) something different as the "main" note of appreciation given separately. Or . . . those tuxedo t-shirts! :) ✌️

An underrated budget pipe brand is H.I.S. (Hugo International Series), I got one for 30 USD and I love it. Morgan Bones is another good budget option for briar and those would be very easy to engrave or do a pyrography design on

I have two Capri pipes made in Italy. I paid about $ 50 bucks for them. There two of the best smokers I have. I have Petersons, Savineli pipes , but if you can find them they would be a good gift for the money.

Tuxedo shirts are certainly better than shirts with my face on it! 😂

So, after some contemplating, I finally figured out a solution for you. Instead of spending the 1000$ on gifts for the groomsmen, put that 1000$ towards the bachelor party instead.
Or a Swiss Army Knife always says "Thinking of you and I have no idea what to get you"

100% agree. Think of the number of pipe smokers by percentage. Chances are that, at most, one might have a faint interest. Buy them a nice boar brush saving kit or a nice beard trimmer for those sporting facial hair.

Cant go wrong with a straight razor, a strop, a scuttle, a brush, and a good shaving soap. for those not man enough to use a straight razor, can always get them a safety razor.
