as an aside, have been smoking on a bowl of Orlik for ~ an hour. Slight nic hit, but nothing unpleasant.
Certainly more than Lame Aye Que but far milder than a bad dose of Haddos.
It started to hit me towards the bottom of the bowl, probably due to a bit "harder" smoking as it takes more draw to keep it going.

I just smoked a big bowl of EMP. For some reason I just got the mother of all nic kicks! Wow! I think it may have to do with accidentally inhaling or swallowing the smoke. I have smoked EMP before without so much of the vitamin N getting to my brain.

Nothing gives me a nic kick that I've tried so far. But, I think that's due to muscle relaxers not the tobacco chosen.

Oddly, blends containing cigar-leaf tend to make me more light-headed than is comfortable if I haven't had a cigar in a while. Otherwise, I can smoke pretty constantly without any problem.

I've become pretty addicted to my own little homebrew blend - which is a fairly stout little va/per. It tends to make me a trifle dizzy if I get too excited with it. Come to think of it, it seems to happen more often in my clays and meers than in my briars. Not sure why that is, but there you go.

Haven't gotten light-headed from tobacco since I first started smoking. Unless I've been drinking and then it's from cigarettes because you're supposed to inhale them. I can smoke pipe tobacco bowl after bowl because I don't inhale.

I agree with others, don't have an empty stomach when trying a new blend and try a half bowl first few

Times to judge the strength of the bacci, after awhile system will adjust to the blend, etc...I enjoy

A nice Dunhill flake with just my first coffee of the day to get going..mild buzz on empty stomach for one of their single flakes in a MM country gent cob....makes me feel like one

Right now as well....great cooler day here in new England

Old Dublin always upsets my stomach right now. Can't really pinpoint the problem with it. University Flake can get my head ringing if I pack too much of it. Happened the other night. I think I accidentally loaded a little more than just a flake into the bowl. After an hour and a half of smoking it the world was spinning when I got up from my chair.

I'm with Portascat... Haddo's Delight will provide a nic kick... when desired.

I thought I'd bump an old thread to relate an experience.
I have a 9mm Vauen pipe that I have been using to smoke Virginias and Va/Pers because I know they tend to burn hot. I recently tried a tin of Haddos Delight. I was glad to be using the filter because Haddos has got to be the fastest burning tobacco I have tried and I was glad for the cooler smoke. But I was a bit surprised at the lack of a nicotine hit.
Tonight I tried a bowl in my Kirsten pipe and the nicotine hit was significant. It appears that the filter was very effective in reducing the nicotine.
If you are quitting cigarettes and want nicotine, stay away from the filters. On the other hand if you have been avoiding high nicotine blends, they may be worth trying if you are willing to put up with the filters. You might find you have some new tobacco blends available to you that way.

1st time I smoked Turkish Izmir, I thought I was a trippin, after the first few bowls, that went away. I think it is low in nic content, so I don't have a clue to this strange reaction. Dang I thought I was on to something good.

Thanks for the tip, Philip.
I don't use filters so I find I take the nic assault head-on. I don't always enjoy the consequences.
Usually, though, I avoid the stronger ones... Maybe I'll tackle 1792 in a small bowl with a filter!
I'm still on the fence about Haddo's myself; something tells me I'd like it, but I'm past the point of wanting to try every single blend I hear about - I'm trying to narrow it down a little.

Not having tried either of those blends, the only time I got light headed is when i smoked a tobacco high in nicotine...after that I stayed away from those blends, and for me it's usually the virginas

I haven't gotten light headed from the pipe yet, nor have I got an upset stomach. I don't really feel the nicotine from pipe baccy all that much. I get itsome times from cigars, but not the pipe. Maybe it's just the blends I smoke

Getting slightly light-headed can be pleasant. Nicotine toxicity, on the other hand, is unpleasant, causing nausea, diarrhea--won't kill you, but you might wish it had. If you feel a nicotine o.d. coming on, a spoonful of sugar or honey may reduce the symptoms in fairly short order.

Now here's the funny thing: Burleys have more Vitamin N than Virginias, but if I smoke a straight burley, I fare far better than when I smoke a straight Virginia. And some tobaccos that are rated "mild," (and I assume nicotine is one of the factors,) give me a heavy buzz. e.g., Pease's Piccadilly is rated as a mild tobacco, but I just can't smoke it. I like the taste, but it does terrible things to me. Go figure. Ditto for Early Morning Pipe. I smoked Balkan Sobranie for many years, and when they quit making it, switched over to other similar blends. These days I find myself sampling some aromatics, something I thought I would never do. Two reasons: I can't find an English/Balkan blend that seems to agree with me these days, and second, I've recently developed a taste for some of the milder aromatics, such as the Mac Baren 7 Seas series. Ain't no accountin' for taste.

Got it yesterday. I smoked back to back bowls of LA Red on an empty stomach. I felt the spins and a little nausea. I ate a KitKat bar and was fine.
