So having checked what we do (as we sell to numerous countries) we do not put nicotine warnings on tins for the USA. There is a warning label on the back of the tin only. This is a California health warning as required by that State and as our distributor asks us to put on. So there is nothing on the front in terms of health warnings as not required. So I am not sure where it is coming from that our tins in the States have nicotine warnings or other health warnings on them except for the above????

The state warning on the back has been in place for a long time, probably at least 10 years so any tins with out this rear warning label are older than that.

Thanks. These two came from Mcranies in Charlotte.

Good to know what happened with those big B&W warning labels. All of a sudden I was seeing these on tins I bought, and then they mysteriously just stopped showing up on all the tins - maybe it was discussed here or elsewhere, but I never came across the explanation before. On a separate note - those stupid state of CA warnings are on everything now (not just the back of tobacco tins). I stop reading the bs once I get to the state of CA part of the warning. I think it would be awesome if every other state came up with their own slightly varied warning parameters, just to frost CA's ass. The labels would have to be shrunk down so small to accommodate all 50 different warnings that they'd be illegible.

There was a short period of time where the FDA did the label requirements but before the courts shot it down. Most manufactures changed their labels during that window (you'll see a lot of labels from 2019-2021 with warning labels. I have a bunch of mixed label C&D tins during this time). It's all just voluntary now since the ruling.

The Proposition 65 warnering notices were enacted in 1986 by a 2/3 majority of the voters and labels started appearing in 1987. For some inexplicable reason, people didn't want to eat or drink foods laced with toxic chemicals, nor feed them to their children. Go figure.

What's the big deal about cancer, sterility and birth defects? Webbed hands, flipper arms, and third eyes could possibly be harnessed for the benefit of all humankind. I don't get it, and from some of the comments on this thread, neither do some of you.

I get it. You have to design for the lowest common denominator!

Sorry I didn’t make this clear, I am referring to your Samuel Gawith tins, they have big bold letter writing on the front and back, and it would certainly be great to see this changed to only a small California warning on the back.

If something is known in the nanny state of CA, isn't it known in DC as well? I wouldn't mind living in CA and it's climate, but the know-it-all people there? Nah.

Nope. The SG tins we supply America have a smaller label on the rear only and say distributed by Laudisi. These must be old tins as we no longer use Kretek as a distributor and haven't for a while.

Is it a “nanny state” if the majority of voters approved it?

The majority of voters picked Joe Biden who needs help putting his pants on to make sure the zipper is in the front. What’s your point?

Let’s all please stay on topic, it’s an important discussion to me, I don’t wish to be closed, let’s please keep it civil.

Everyone too please.. :)

Thanks
